Institution Shondell Reed is in his second year as Colgate's Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Internal and External Operations after being promoted to the position in the fall of 2007. His primary responsibilities include overseeing the budgets for all of Colgate's varsity athletic teams, support groups and club sports. In addition, he serves as the liaison to Colgate's advancement office. He also organizes the department of athletics annual Hall of Honor event. On campus, Reed oversees the athletic department's Athletic Communications, and Ticket offices, Strength and Conditioning and Compliance staffs. He also serves as the lead administrator for five varsity programs. Outside of the Colgate athletics division, Reed serves as a member of Colgate's Committee on Standards and Academic Standing and Staff Affirmative Action Oversight Committee. He is also a member of Colgate's Athletic Scholarship Strategic Plan Steering Committee. Reed also is very active outside of the Colgate community. He currently serves as a member of the Patriot League's Sports Management and Sportsmanship committees and beginning in the fall of 2008, he will serve as a member of the NCAA Recruiting Cabinet. Reed has been at Colgate since 2004 when he was hired as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance. In that role, he implemented a comprehensive compliance program for the athletic department and oversaw the academic support program for all student-athletes and supervised the equipment room staff. During his three years as the compliance coordinator he was a member of the Initial Eligibility Waivers Committee for two years and served as a lead sport administrator for four varsity teams. He also represented the athletics department on Colgate's Faculty Affairs Committee and the Executive Committee of the Diversity Council. Prior to arriving at Colgate, Reed worked in the compliance office at The Ohio State University and the Athletics Marketing Office at UC Berkeley. Reed holds a masters degree in sport management from the University of San Francisco and a juris doctorate from Seattle University School of Law. He earned a bachelors degree in communications/journalism from Cal State Fullerton. |
